Spam up in March, says Symantec

The new report highlights a marked increase in bounced message spam in which spammers take advantage of mail transfer agent (MTA) programs by utilising the practice of “backscatter” to bounce massive volumes of emails to unsuspecting end users. Another trend Symantec says it observed was an increase in malicious spam spoofing and spam messages becoming more sinister, directing recipients to download a virus. Bizarre spam emails observed included a flurry of emails advertising a phone sex line. The report is available at: www.symantec.com/spam View all Announcements / Contract Listings 8/4/11_ex_h |
