Motor Vehicle: Greentree launched at MG Rover New Zealand
A new entrant into the New Zealand auto market needed business software that could grow along with them...

MG Rover New Zealand, trading under licence of MG Rover Group Limited, began launching vehicles into the New Zealand market during the third-quarter of 2002. In time with the launch of the company, general manager Andrew Bayliss has implemented many new business systems, with his main goal of installing workable, cost effective financial software that would grow with their business. Through his experience of the motor industry Bayliss was familiar with industry specific financial software and other accounting packages available. MG Rover was able to compare Greentree (who were recently recognised as one of 25 global rising stars by MIS magazine) with a number of software products and was very impressed by Greentree's capabilities. Bayliss says, "Being Windows based Greentree is incredibly easy to use and seems the best all round package for us" (MG Rover NZ is using Greentree's core financials, Inventory, Sales Orders and Purchase Orders, Job Cost and WebStore modules). After installing Greentree the company was able to recognise true business benefits, says Bayliss. "With Greentree, there's been minimal training required and from day one our parts manager has been able to use the system and draw on all the information available which is clear and easily accessible." The Greentree report writing facility is an important tool for MG Rover NZ he says, "As our distribution business grows we will increasingly need to produce detailed financial and sales reports. The reporting tool is very easy to use and can be customised. We will use this feature more and more." MG Rover New Zealand will also be implementing an industry specific system 'Parts Online' alongside Greentree. The MG Rover dealers throughout New Zealand will use 'Parts Online' for on-line car part enquiries. Using the Greentree WebStore technology the distribution network will check part availability and order parts online via the internet. "Parts Online will be pivotal to our dealers," says Bayliss, "giving great time savings. WebStore will provide a secure, on line parts catalogue for dealers to obtain instant access to prices, stock and order information." Another important feature of Greentree for MG Rover New Zealand was the flexible functionality for both retail and wholesale practices. Bayliss says that MG Rover New Zealand will benefit from the flexible pricing structures that allow multiple pricing books, custom discount structures and default price books. "We've found many other systems don't offer Greentree's flexibility of inventory and pricing," he says. Greentree provides a really strong system for both wholesale and retail and, has been developed with this in mind." Overall, MG Rover New Zealand believes Greentree has been an important addition to the launch of the dealership and they believe the system has more potential. "We can envisage using Greentree in many ways," says Bayliss, "and we'll possibly grow the system as our business develops. It's worked really well for us." About MG Rover MG Rover's local line-up will include a number of models that have not previously been offered in New Zealand. The MG range will encompass a number of performance variants.
