Wireless interoperability is the ability of software and hardware to communicate on multiple machines and from multiple vendors using wireless technology. Kinetic Information estimates that worldwide wireless enterprise interoperability (EIO) revenues will total over $80 billion by 2006, rising by $70.5 billion from 2003. Kinetic believes there are three main aspects to wireless EIO – enterprise solutions, accounting for $18.8 billion in 2006, telecom services, accounting for $25.2 billion and personal device solutions, accounting for $36.7 billion. Kinetic believes there is strong potential for wireless EIO thanks to the promise of wireless and mobile computing. IDC also believes in a strong future for wireless and mobile computing, estimating that spending on worldwide wireless and mobile network infrastructure will rise by $10.7 billion between 2002 and 2007, totaling $49 billion by 2007. |
