With over 400 meetings held every week across New Zealand, Weight Watchers is the name on everyone’s lips when it comes to losing weight and maintaining a healthy diet. Now its Tauranga branch is making it even easier for clients to reach their goal weight by providing easy payment options for Weight Watchers' services and products. “We hold meetings in all sorts of venues from community halls to classrooms and we needed an easy and convenient way for people to pay,” says national manager Colleen Stairmand. Telecom set the branch up with a Mobile EFTPOS terminal, supplied by EFTPOS Specialists. The terminal operates over the 027 mobile network with no need for a phone-jack or a power supply. “It’s making payment easier for our customers and also means they’re able to purchase our products on-the-spot after meetings,” says Stairmand. “Before Mobile EFTPOS customers would bring $20 to cover meeting fees, but would then find they didn’t have enough cash to pay for anything else, such as our point guides or recipe books. “They would have to walk down the road to an ATM machine to get cash out which was often too much hassle. Now they can simply use their EFTPOS card.” Since the introduction of Mobile EFTPOS sales at the Tauranga meetings have increased by 10 percent compared with the national average of 5 percent. “That’s quite a difference, and I’m positive it’s the extra convenience of having Mobile EFTPOS,” says Stairmand. “Mobile EFTPOS suits businesses like ours or those who regularly attend events and need to provide a familiar form of payment. You can also hire the equipment for short periods of time. “Because it’s simple to set-up and user-friendly, Mobile EFTPOS is definitely making life a lot easier for both our customers and our business.
